During 2016, Microsoft made quite a bit of progress towards the goal of donating $1 billion in cloud services to researchers and non-profits. Just last year, they donated a total of $465 million to 71,000 organizations. The goal for Microsoft is to reach $1 billion over three years.
Along with donating cloud services, the company has helped remote schools gain internet connectivity, along with health clinics and community centers across 11 countries. They have also help to expand computer science education in 225 high schools in the United States.
