(The Hosting News) – Amazon CTO Werner Vogels recently discussed the cloud aspect of Amazon Web Services at the 2011 GigaOm Structure Conference during a speech titled “State of the Cloud.”
In the speech, Vogels discussed the ever expanding cloud and how Amazon Web Services has grown. The CTO pointed to the fact that AWS currently hosts 339 billion objects. That’s a pretty big increase in volume for the cloud provider (Last year AWS was at 59 billion).
Meanwhile, Vogels also emphasized how more customers are using new applications with Amazon Web Services, saying, “Each year we see our customers building more sophisticated applications.”
Other subjects discussed included new features of AWS and the cloud provider’s spot pricing which lets customers bid for instances of EC2.
The GigaOm Structure Conference is currently being held in San Francisco and concludes today.
