(The Hosting News) – After months of battling, Amazon’s Web Service has won the legal dispute against IBM for a $600 million cloud contract with the CIA. The contract’s purpose is to build a facility that hosts a private cloud inside the CIA’s data centers.
“We look forward to a successful relationship with the CIA”, stated an Amazon spokesperson regarding the final hearing.
Earlier this year, IBM had opposed the CIA contract which led the Government Accountability Office to review the bids. As reported by Information Week, in late July Amazon filed a suit objecting “to competing with IBM again on an even footing after so much of its bid information had been disclosed to IBM in the bid debriefing process.”
The final ruling was in favor of Amazon, even though IBM’s bid was $54 million lower than that of its competitor.
The courts final decision was made on October 7th.
