(The Hosting News) – Chip maker AMD is looking to the world of open source. According to a report from Data Center Knowledge, the company recently showcased server products via Facebook’s annual Open Compute Project conference – this year held in Santa Clara, California.
New servers are in the mix and will likely cover financial institutions. Based on AMD’s Open 3.0 platform – two companies are already examining whether to integrate the servers via their data centers.
According to the report, they are Goldman Sachs and Fidelity Investments. “This is big for AMD, big for customers and big for the data center,” AMD Cloud Technical Evangelist told Data Center Knowledge.
