(The Hosting News) – Tech Expert Weighs In On Data Breach and Possible Serious Repercussions
Another day, another data breach. However, this time it wasn’t a simple credit card scam at a local drugstore. Instead, health insurer Anthem’s database was hacked, which means that millions of Americans could be at risk of identity theft.
Tech expert Karl Volkman says, “Previous headline data breaches put Americans’ bank accounts at risk. Now, with this latest hacking, their very identities could be at risk.”
At Anthem, hackers were able to steal everything from social security numbers to birthdays to home addresses to health records. As a result, many people are worried that an increase in identity theft could be on the way.
Volkman says, “Rebuilding your credit and your reputation after you have had your identity stolen is no easy matter. It is frustrating and heartbreaking, and it can leave your financial affairs in a hopeless mess. If you believe you are experiencing identity theft, you should contact the authorities as well as your banking organization. Be vigilant and over-cautious if necessary. Better safe than sorry.”
