News: Web Hosting Wholesaler, Hostopia, Joins Inc. 500
News

Fort Lauderdale, Florida - (The Hosting News) - October 24, 2005 - Web hosting wholesaler, Hostopia, has been named to Inc. magazine's 24th annual Inc. 500 ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in the country.

Hostopia ranks No. 390 on the list, with three-year sales growth of 350%. The Inc. 500 can be found in the November issue, which appears on newsstands November 1.

Bill Campbell, CEO of Hostopia commented on the news, ''Being on the Inc. 500 is the acme of success and epitomizes a truly remarkable and award winning year. Hostopia has managed to not only survive the downturn in the IT industry, but thrive in it. We truly wish to thank our customers and our amazing employees who have made Hostopia the success that it is.

Hostopia has been recognized by many awards in 2005, including the Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the IT Sector (Ontario), presented to Mr. Bill Campbell (Hostopia's CEO), Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Companies-To-Watch Award, the Ontario Global Traders Award 2004 for Market Expansion (Service), Best Internet-Based Technology Company by the South Florida Business Journal, and the number one spot on the 17th annual PROFIT 100 ranking of Canada's Fastest-Growing Companies by PROFIT Magazine.

Hostopia is a fast growing private-label wholesale web hosting, email, and online application service provider. Mr. Campbell added, ''Our success comes from recognizing the significant growth potential for the industry and that despite this growth, service providers are having a difficult time maintaining profitability. Hostopia’s unique wholesale model allows telcos, ISPs, and other service providers to increase profits while devoting their resources to their core business. On average our partners reduce their operating expenses by 30% to 40% while eliminating their hosting capital expenditures.''

The companies that made the Inc. 500 list represent the vanguard of American industry. Inc. 500 companies posted aggregate 2004 revenue of $15.9 billion, and 84% of them were profitable. Most importantly, Inc. 500 companies were engines of job growth, having created more than 95,000 jobs since the companies were founded.

The Inc. 500 list generated 25,180 new jobs in the past year alone, a 35% year-over-year increase. Compare this with the total number of employees among Fortune 500 companies, which declined in 2001, 2002, and 2003 before experiencing a 1.3% uptick of 306,045 jobs in 2004.

Jim Melloan, Project Manager for the Inc. 500 commented, ''When you look at the amazing job growth among Inc. 500 companies and contrast it with the stagnation in the Fortune 500, it underscores the changing nature of our economy. With unprecedented global competition, companies have to be able to turn on a dime and discover innovative new ways of doing business. Increasingly, it's the smaller, agile companies like those on the Inc. 500 that are best equipped to meet these challenges.''
