Herndon, Virginia - (The Hosting News) - December 21, 2005 - Server virtualization and automation company, SWsoft, has released candidate (RC1) of Virtuozzo for Linux 3.0. Virtuozzo for Linux 3.0 features enhancements that drive even greater performance, flexibility and management capabilities for both the virtualization engine and the supporting toolset.
According to Carla Safigan, Director of Virtuozzo Marketing, SWsoft, ''Virtuozzo for Linux 3.0 marks a major milestone in the product’s history delivering class-leading innovation to the virtualization market. The entire release reflects major advances in architecture and design that increase performance while minimizing administration and overhead. From smarter template management and expanded OS support to enhanced browser-based management control, Virtuozzo for Linux 3.0 raises the standard for server virtualization.''
Major Virtuozzo 3.0 for Linux advancements include:
· EZTemplate Management - Building on Virtuozzo's unique capability for creating both Operating System and Application templates, EZTemplates feature smarter template creation and loading with the capability of defining, finding and resolving software dependencies.
· 2.6 Linux Kernel Support - Now supporting any 2.6 based Linux distribution, as well as backward compatibility for distributions and existing virtualized 2.4 servers.
· Incremental Backups - Web-based integrated backup tool now supports incremental backup capability for VPS owners.
· Zero Downtime Migration - Captures the state of an existing virtual private server and its contents, and migrates it to a new physical server without any interruption in service or availability.
· Additional Management Tool Features - Increased capabilities in browser-based management tools with an added file manager and vzup2date access. Vzup2date is the online automatic Virtuozzo update tool, and file manager provides access and management to the file system specific to a virtual private server.
Additional new features and enhancements include expanded OS support to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.0, CentOS 4.0 and Fedora Core 4.0.
SWsoft already powers more than 120,000 servers and more than 300,000 virtual private servers (VPS) worldwide. Virtuozzo for Linux and Virtuozzo for Windows are the clear leaders in VPS technology for hosting and enable a full spectrum of service offerings including:
· VPS - VPS services provide a level of security and reliability and flexibility (with optional root access and application sets) above shared hosting services, while maintaining the same customer density and profitability of shared hosting.
· Dynamic Server - A high-end VPS offering with more resource guarantees and fewer customers on a server. Easy upgrades, burstable resources and customer troubleshooting and recovery tools all make Dynamic Servers a better service than dedicated servers.
· Dynamic Dedicated Server - Serve one dedicated customer on a single Virtuozzo instance with advanced self-management tools. Eliminate the danger of DDoS and easily migrate customers between physical servers for planned downtime and upgrades.
· Split Dedicated - Add Virtuozzo to a dedicated server to provide a powerful service offering that enables the customer to isolate any application on the server. Split dedicated enables launching a complete web or other type of online business with a very low cost of entry and an extensive set of tools.
· Split Shared - Provide Shared Services in different Virtuozzo VPSs to provide a level of security, isolation and improved management to limit the impact of downtime, application conflicts and DDoS risks.
· Advanced Shared - Provide shared hosting in a VPS with customized application sets, seamless scalability and optional root control level, while maintaining shared hosting customer density, simplicity, profit and automation levels.
Virtuozzo for Linux is available immediately for 32-bit and 64-bit Intel and AMD platforms. Virtuozzo for Windows is also generally available for 32-bit and 64-bit Intel and AMD platforms.
