Herndon, Virginia - (The Hosting News) - July 12, 2006 - IT infrastructure services firm, SAVVIS, Inc., has been chosen as a subcontractor to Raytheon Company on the FirstGov Web Solutions task order, awarded by the Federal Systems Integration and Management Center and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).
The task order, awarded to Raytheon under the GSA's Millennia Government-Wide Acquisition Contract from the GSA Office of Citizen Services and Communications (OCSC), will provide the hosting and technology services underpinning the FirstGov Portal and other citizen-facing government web sites and has a potential value of up to $71 million for a one-year term, with four renewal years.
According to the company, Raytheon selected SAVVIS for its ability to provide a comprehensive, blended IT solution consisting of managed IT infrastructure and professional services that enable the FirstGov Portal and other federal government websites for citizen use. Under the terms of the subcontract with Raytheon, SFS will provide fully managed hosting, network, and professional services, including managed security, DDoS mitigation, disaster recovery, systems administration and engineering support, and project management. In addition, SFS will provide content delivery network (CDN) services supporting the FirstGov Portal.
The FirstGov Portal offers easy-to-navigate, intuitive websites from which users can manage a variety of government-administered benefits and access information relevant to their specific situations. An additional 24 government websites for citizens may be added to the service over the five years of the contract.
