News: Web Hosting Companies Represented at ISPCON 2006
Santa Clara, California - (The Hosting News) - November 8, 2006 - ISPCON 2006 launched with a bang at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California on Tuesday. A strong crowd of hundreds of ISP and web hosting professionals enjoyed a diverse range of informative and educational sessions on topics ranging from exchange hosting to VoIP to running a top notch customer service operation.
In addition, a well represented exhibit hall floor was busy after the 3:00 pm opening with vendors displaying a deep array of new and established technologies and services.
A few of the highlights of Tuesday's conference events included:
Igniting the Service and Support Fire in Your Organization - presented by Lou Honick, CEO of HostMySite.com. Mr. Honick delivered a real world-based assessment of the steps to delivering world class customer service in hosting dubbed his ''pillars of excellence''. Illustrating his points with multiple actual events that have happened to HostMySite.com and its staff, Mr. Honick engaged his audience and delivered valuable insight on hosting operations. Particularly poignant was the anecdote regarding the overnight employee of HostMySite.com who completed his shift - despite the fact that he was suffering from acute appendicitis.
5 Best Kept Secrets of Marketing Your Hosting Company - moderated by Cliff Boodoosingh, Managing Editor, VerticalScope. A deeply knowledgeable panel including Mr. Honick of HostMySite.com, Derek Vaughan of TechPad Agency, Paul Engels of Hostopia, and Rodney Giles of eleven2.com delivered many valuable pointers on growing a web hosting brand and business. Among a few of the ideas generated: be first to market, ask for free stuff from vendors and advertising partners, master Google AdWord's dynamic keyword insertion, focus on internal marketing, tap into word of mouth, and sponsor forums of specialty sites.
The exhibit hall featured a great variety of advertisers including web hosting directory, The WHIR. HostMySite.com and Hostopia also displayed their services in the exhibit hall, and were joined by exchange hosting companies, Intermedia.NET and groupSPARK. Numerous other website development and add-on companies had booths - and there was a section of the exhibit hall devoted specifically to VoIP - cleverly entitled, ''VoIP City.''
Overall, the first day of ISPCON 2006 was a great venue for networking and education. Look for details tomorrow on day 2 of the show.
