(The Hosting News) – The cloud migration company, audriga, will unveil a new software as a service (SaaS) for easily migrating emails, contacts, calendar data, and tasks to Open-Xchange at tomorrow’s Open-Xchange Summit in Berlin.
Open-Xchange users and technology partners will discuss recent developments and trends at the annual Open-Xchange Summit on November 15th in Berlin. One of the main topics is the “ruthlessly open” initiative from Open-Xchange, which gives users better control of their data. Users storing data in the cloud are getting increasingly concerned about vendor lock-in.
Launch of www.groupware-migration.com
To improve data portability, audriga provides the first automated groupware migration service for Open-Xchange. On www.groupware-migration.com, users can easily migrate their existing emails, contacts, calendar data, and tasks to a new service provider. Using the migration service is as easy as using a webmail interface. After entering account credentials, the fully-automated migration process starts at the push of a button. No software needs to be installed. Users can continuously monitor the progress of the migration on a status page.
“The audriga groupware migration service is an important milestone to make Open-Xchange even more open,” said Rafael Laguna, CEO Open-Xchange. “Users can easily take along all their data from an Open-Xchange system without having to fear vendor lock-in. At the same time, the new service allows hosters and telcos to migrate customers onto their platform in a fast and convenient way.”
The audriga groupware migration is the first service of its kind which allows users to easily switch between different Open-Xchange service providers. Since many major hosting providers and telcos such as 1&1 Internet, Strato, and Host Europe are using Open-Xchange, small- and medium-size companies and private customers can now easily move their data between those providers. The service also allows moving data from an on-premises Open-Xchange installation to a hosted solution.
Dr. Thomas King, CTO at audriga, explains the reasons for designing the new service: “Open-Xchange is the groupware platform which addresses the challenges of the cloud age in the most significant way. It is no surprise that many leading hosters and telcos depend on Open-Xchange to grow their cloud business. With our migration service, we want to support the dynamic growth and vitality of the Open-Xchange ecosystem.”
In the upcoming months, connectors for additional groupware solutions will be added to the migration service. Access to Microsoft Exchange and Google Apps is already available in an initial version so that audriga also enables hosters and IT consultants to easily migrate users of other groupware platforms to Open-Xchange.
The audriga migration service can be directly started in a web browser. Hosting providers can easily adopt the service via white labeling or API integration. audriga also offers professional support for larger migration projects. For private customers, the migration of an Open-Xchange account including all emails, contacts, calendar data and tasks will cost 19.99 EUR (approximately $25). Volume discounts and special pricing for hosters and resellers are available.
audriga assists users with migrating their groupware data such as emails, contacts and calendar data between cloud providers. This is realized by the fast, secure, and easy-to-use migration service www.migrate-mail.com, which connects to different hosting providers and processes large amounts of data in an efficient way. Providing this service, audriga puts a strong emphasis on IT security and data privacy.
