(The Hosting News) – BaseKit, the leading website building platform, today announced the appointment of Thomas Vollrath as board director. This announcement has come shortly after BaseKit received a further £4.5m funding from the Angel CoFund backed by the British Business Bank.
Vollrath is the former CEO of the Host Europe Group, the largest privately-owned hosting group in Europe who own the likes of 123-reg, the UK’s largest hosting firm. Thomas led the Host Europe Group for seven years, growing rapidly the value of the company by over 400% from £87 million to £438 million in the last 5 years and managing its sale to three successive venture capital groups.
A significant figure in the hosting community, Vollrath has been involved with BaseKit since its inception, overseeing the first partnership with 123-reg when he was CEO of its parent company. Having followed BaseKit’s progression over the last few years, he was enticed back to the company by BaseKit’s CEO Juan Lobato and its success in raising funding and signing up new partners within the hosting community.
Vollrath will be helping to meet the increasing SME demand for affordable quality websites, maximising partnerships within the hosting industry as well as identifying opportunities for Basekit’s onward sale to trade or private equity investors. BaseKit already have over 40,000 consumers signing up to the platform each month across 26 countries, which is expected to double by the end of the year.
