(The Hosting News) – Networking company Cisco recently announced new initiatives to enhance their cloud services in areas including network performance, virtualization, and more.
The company rolled out the new features at Cisco Live, a tech conference held by Cisco every year.
Upon making the announcement in a press release, Cisco CTO of Cloud Computing Lew Tucker stated, “Today’s technology developments across Cisco’s business represent the latest step in the company’s ongoing strategy to help customers build and use clouds effectively and safely. They reinforce the basic premise that the network makes clouds happen.”
One of the technologies introduced included an update to the company’s UCS (Unified Computing System) platform. Part of the update involved the addition of an upgraded virtual interface card. Working with rack-mount and USC blade servers, the company’s UCS Manager assists in system configuration and operation management.
Another new technology included Cisco Nexus Switches. Helping serve data centers, the devices run on Cisco NX-OS and support ten gigabit ethernet. Also introduced, the Cisco Wide Area Application Service is software that helps optimize applications.
Meanwhile, Cisco is also focusing on email security with the new rollout. Cisco IronPort Managed Email Security assists IT managers by preventing viruses and unwanted emails.
