(The Hosting News) – Technology giant Cisco is taking key components of its cloud computing services and bundling them into a new platform called Cisco CloudVerse.
The company announced the move on Tuesday.
CloudVerse includes Cisco’s Cloud Intelligent Network, an offering that covers various Cisco services specializing in areas such as cloud connection, delivering “enterprise-class services,” and automation.
Another key component is Cisco’s Cloud Applications and Services, providing application deliveries via the cloud.
And lastly is the company’s Unified Data Center solution, services that allow for high connectivity via unified fabric, unified computing, and unified management.
While some the services are ones that have been previously available, the company did add new improvements to their Unified Data Center solution. Additions include Cisco Network Services Manager, a solution pertaining to virtual network and Cisco Intelligent Automation for the Cloud, allowing for easier data center management.
Overall, Cisco is providing the platform for businesses with the goal of improving “SMB/consumer services” along with “IT-as-a-service.”
Meanwhile, the service has already caught on with some top tech companies including LinkedIn, Xerox, Fujitsu, and IT company and Verizon subsidiary Terremark.
“Cisco CloudVerse is architected to help deliver on the promise of cloud by unifying compute, storage and network resources that can be securely and rapidly repurposed and managed on-demand to meet the needs of different customers or applications,” commented Terremark President Kerry Bailey in a Cisco press release.
Commenting on her company’s new offering, Cisco CTO Padmasree Warrior stated, “Until now cloud technology resided in silos, making it harder to build and manage clouds, and to interconnect multiple clouds, posing critical challenges for many organizations.”
“Cisco uniquely enables the world of many clouds – connecting people, communities and organizations with a business-class cloud user experience for the next-generation Internet,” she went on to say.
Earlier this year in July, the company introduced an update to the company’s Unified Computing System. For more information on Cisco CloudVerse, view a press release by Cisco here (newsroom.cisco.com).
