(The Hosting News) – A new solution called CloudPlatform was recently unveiled by technology innovator Citrix. While many cloud solutions are being constantly introduced, Citrix’s service holds the distinction of what the company says is the “the first commercially supported cloud orchestration system based on Apache CloudStack.”
The platform itself was rolled out by Citrix at the company’s Citrix Synergy conference in San Fracisco, an event which brings together CIOS, CTOS, those in the IT community and more to discuss topics including virtualization and cloud.
Harnessing Apache CloudStack’s open source integration with IaaS solutions, CloudPlatform provides a variety of features for clients. Listed among them in a press release by Citrix was the ability to build new clouds, compatibility with existing platforms and more.
“We’ve had a groundswell of support from developers and partners following our announcement to submit CloudStack to the Apache Foundation. Our customers are defining success with a scalable, flexible and powerful revenue-driving cloud,” stated Citrix GM of Cloud Platforms Group Sameer Dholakia.
Dholakia continued, “The emerging ecosystem is truly engaged and we cannot wait to see the future innovations deriving from the community.”
One of the service’s highlights includes its compatibility with Elastic Compute, available through Amazon Web Services. While CloudPlatform may have just been introduced, it appears already be in full swing. According to Citrix, the solution currently features thousands of apps and has generated over 30 thousand members thus far.
Aside from announcing CloudPlatform, Citrix has also been busy rolling out a number of other new solutions at its Citrix Synergy Conference. Also introduced on Friday by the company were new solutions in the area of desktop virtualization. Meanwhile, the tech provider is set to hold another Synergy conference in Barcelona from October seventeenth through the nineteenth.
