Public cloud service providers, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google, and IBM, account for 63% of the public cloud market share. AWS alone accounts for 40% of the market share, with Google, Microsoft, and IBM accounting for 23% of the total public IaaS and PaaS market share. Smaller cloud providers’ market share has dropped 4% in the last quarter of 2016 compared to the last quarter in 2015.
Small to medium-sized cloud providers make up just 18% of the overall public cloud services market, according to Synergy Research Group. Amazon Web Services is expected to continue to rule the market and cut into smaller providers’ market shares in the coming months.
