(The Hosting News) – Cloud hosting and colocation provider ViaWest recently unveiled plans to expand its data center facility located in Portland, Oregon by 23 thousand square feet.
The move adds more server space for a data center infrastructure from the company that already includes other facilities in Texas, Colorado, Utah and Nevada. Aside from colocation, the company’s Portland facility located at the Hillsboro Complex provides a wide variety of services including disaster recovery, cloud, complex hosting, monitoring and more.
Discussing the matter in a press release, ViaWest Regional VP of Sales Jim Linkous expressed enthusiasm, emphasizing the facility’s ability to serve a market located in Oregon and the southern Washington area.
“Our customers at the Hillsboro Complex come from a wide spectrum of industries and we are committed to serving their needs with a hands-on approach designed to ensure an exceptional customer experience,” commented Linkous.
Linkous went on to say this his company keeps itself “accountable for taking care of our communities, both in how our facilities will affect the environment and through civic outreach by our employees.” The expansion at the Hillsboro complex means an almost doubling in size. The total capacity will account for more than 50 thousand square feet following the completion of the project.
Meanwhile, ViaWest said it worked with Energy Trust of Oregon when developing the expansion plans. Just last month, the colocation provider officially unveiled its new Denver, Colorado data center. One high profile guest at the grand opening included state Governor John Hickenlooper.
