(The Hosting News) – Through a comprehensive review of its data center infrastructure – including networks, web applications, operating systems and other services – to assess account data security, Codero has met all requirements of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). PCI Compliance represents minimum payment-processing security measures to ensure all companies process, store and transmit debit and credit card information while maintaining a secure environment.
Assessment of Codero’s Phoenix data center was completed by an independent auditor as of March 18, 2010. A recently re-designed space within the building now includes a secure cardholder data environment, mandating strict access via badge readers and 24/7/365 camera surveillance. This caged-off area also features separate environmental controls (cooling, etc.) and an isolated electrical network.
“There’s clearly too much at stake today in protecting cardholder privacy as eCommerce continues to surge,” notes Shawn Hashmi, Director, Operations at Codero. “Our PCI-compliant environment in Phoenix is just the latest in a series of steps we’re taking to ensure businesses are able to accept online payments without putting their customers at risk.”
Created in 2006 by the five major credit card issuers (American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa), PCI DSS as a security standard focuses on 12 requirements over policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical measures to improve payment account security throughout the transaction process.
