(The Hosting News) – Colocation provider zColo recently expanded its data center footprint by unveiling a new downtown Chicago facility.
zColo operates as a subsidiary of the Zayo Group, a fiber network operator whose infrastructure covers 44 thousand miles across the United States.
When discussing the matter, zColo President Chris Morley talked about the city’s demand for colocation services. “Industry reports show that growth in demand for data center services in Chicago has exceeded supply by 50% over the prior two years,” Morley stated.
The zColo President also said his company would look to join with other Chicago-based carrier providers to offer services.
Specifically the facility encompasses eight and a half thousand square feet of space and functions off of the Zayo Group’s Bandwidth Infrastructure. In addition to that, it’s linked to Zayo’s fiber network.
zColo has other colocation facilities in locations including Los Angeles, New York City, Las Vegas, Pittsburgh and Memphis.
Just earlier this month, zColo announced its acquisition of MarquisNet, giving zColo the company’s 28 thousand square foot Las Vegas data center facility.
Aside from providing dark fiber and colocation, the Zayo Group also provides services such as ethernet, low latency, wireless infrastructure and more. For more information regarding the opening of zColo’s Chicago facility, view a press release here (zayo.com).
