(The Hosting News) – cPanel Conference 2013 officially kicked off on Monday as attendees gathered at the Sheraton New Orleans on Canal Street.
Hosting industry gurus met up and headed down towards the Mississippi river, boarding the Queen Creole riverboat for some New Orleans-style fun (despite the rain and traffic from Monday Night Football!).
The next day, the conference opened early with breakfast and a keynote speech from current eSigns.com CEO Robert Marsh who discussed his hosting industry past.
“You can trust your customers. If you’re open, honest and completely transparent, your customers will work just as hard for you as you work for your customers,” Marsh told attendees.
Following up Marsh was Servint COO and i2Coalition co-founder Christian Dawson who talked about “12 Lessons from 18 years in web hosting.”
Points made by Dawson included figuring what you do well and sticking with it, preparing for the unexpected, setting reasonable expectations and quite a bit more.
“Fight for what you love and hosting is worth the fight,” Dawson noted, emphasizing his work with the i2Coalition.
cPanel concludes tomorrow on Wednesday, October 2, 2013.
