(The Hosting News) – Computer maker Dell expanded its cloud based portfolio on Thursday, announcing a new private IaaS service called Dell Cloud Dedicated. While the company has regularly invested in the cloud within its recent past, the new platform provides each client with an individual server assignment.
Benefits of the solution include scalability, rapid deployment along with the ability for users to meter their cloud usage.
“Coupled with a variety of storage, networking, and managed service options, Dell Cloud Dedicated makes it simple for users to operate production workloads that otherwise would be limited to custom, on-premise deployment. Because there is no capital outlay required and the infrastructure is managed by Dell, organizations can quickly take advantage of private cloud computing as an extension of their data center.,” commented the company via a press release.
The new dedicated offering wasn’t the only thing Dell announced on Thursday. The computer maker also detailed an expansion of its public and hybrid cloud services, signaling that they’d be accessible in new locations aside from original ones that included the U.S. and Canada. The offering is made possible through a partnership with virtualization provider VMware (via VMware VCloud DataCenter) and adds countries including Ireland, the United Kingdom, Mexico and France.
In addition to that, Dell emphasized its work with channel partners to spread the availability of its cloud platforms. Meanwhile, the company is looking to make it easier for clientele to purchase its solutions and will launch the Dell Cloud Portal within the approaching weeks in the United States. The company previously announced its acquisition of Wyse Technology Leadership in April, further diversifying its portfolio to include more cloud-based desktop virtualization.
