
(The Hosting News) – Today, Digital Realty Trust (DLR) announced that it has acquired two fully-leased data centers in California and Texas for $50.3 million. The acquisition furthers DLR’s portfolio to more than 16 million square feet of data center space.
The California data center is located in San Jose and includes 69,700 rentable square feet and is 100 percent leased. DLR only announced that the tenant is a “major telecommunications company,” however sources say that Verizon is currently operating from that address.
The second data center is located in Richardson, Texas. The data center features over 56,000 rentable square feet and is fully leased as well. Digital Realty said the data center is a primary switch faciliy for the southwest region for “another major telecommunications company,” which is apparently AT&T Wireless.
The two acquisitions further DLR’s ongoing initiative to acquire income properties.
