Divshot, an HTML5 website hosting platform was recently acquired by Google. This Los Angeles-based startup announced the acquisition on their website and on the Firebase blog recently. Divshot will shut down in mid-December and will no longer be separate from Google.
The beta launch of Divshot happened in late 2012. They received about $1.1 million in seed funding and migrated to Firebase Hosting. Firebase and Divshot serve an overlapping market with the growing popularity of HTML5.
Goggle will gain another powerful tool to add to their already powerful arsenal. With both Divshot and the Firebase command-line interface becoming a part of Google, the company will now have a better web app development and cloud mobile platform.
