(The Hosting News) – enStratus announced today the introduction of automation capabilities for managing the deployment of VMware Cloud FoundryTM – the industry’s first open platform as a service (PaaS) – into any of the 18 clouds and cloud platforms managed by the enStratus cloud infrastructure management system.
Support for Cloud Foundry comes with the latest enStratus release and builds on top of the enStratus service catalog functionality which provides customers with pre-bundled service catalog items that can immediately deploy Cloud Foundry environments with point and click ease.
With the Cloud Foundry service catalog item, enStratus will provide a management and automation system that manages VMware vSphere®, VMware vCloud®, and Cloud Foundry infrastructures — including the ability to deploy Cloud Foundry PaaS technology on top of VMware vSphere, vCloud Director™, or vCloud-based clouds like Bluelock and Terremark.
With enStratus, Cloud Foundry and Configuration Management solution Chef, enStratus customers can launch multi-node Cloud Foundry deployments using standard Chef recipes maintained by the Cloud Foundry community. Using this approach, enStratus customers can take advantage of the work the community is putting into Cloud Foundry and avoid vendor lock-in.
“As the cloud management platform for the enterprise, enStratus has always had a strong commitment to VMware’s complete cloud vision,” explains enStratus CTO George Reese. “Support for Cloud Foundry represents the logical extension of this commitment into the realm of enterprise PaaS. Our enStratus service catalog automation is only the beginning of what is possible with enStratus and Cloud Foundry.”
Cloud Foundry, the industry’s first open platform as a service, provides a choice of developer frameworks, application services and deployment to both public and private clouds. Cloud Foundry is available at http://www.CloudFoundry.com – a VMware operated PaaS service – as well the open source project at http://www.CloudFoundry.org.
“Cloud Foundry provides a PaaS solution designed around the critical principles of simplicity, openness and portability,” said Jerry Chen, vice president, Cloud and Application Services, VMware. “enStratus’ ability to automate the deployment of Cloud Foundry across multiple infrastructure makes it faster and easier to build, test, deploy and scale applications on multiple clouds”.
