(The Hosting News) – Colocation provider CyrusOne recently revealed a new employee, and he has quite an impressive resume.
Kevin Timmons, formerly of Microsoft is the company’s new chief technology officer (CTO).
Responding to his appointment, Timmons stated, “I am excited to be joining an organization like CyrusOne which currently is a hidden secret in the data center industry.”
Timmons also referred to the company’s potential to grow.
At Microsoft, Timmons was Data Center Services GM, where he oversaw the company’s data center plans.
It was reported in April that Timmons would be stepping down from the company. Before Microsoft, Timmons worked with Yahoo as VP of Operations.
Commenting on the matter in a press release, CyrusOne President Gary Wojtaszek expressed excitement, stating, “As we build out our facilities and launch new projects like our recent Phoenix acquisition, Kevin will provide the insight necessary to ensure CyrusOne incorporates the latest data center design technologies in the next phase of our development plans.”
In June of last year, CyrusOne was officially acquired for $525 million by internet and cable provider Cincinnati Bell. The company has data center locations in U.S. states including Texas, Arizona, Ohio, Kentucky, and Illinois.
