Exabytes has more than 60,000 customers in 121 countries, including consumers, small businesses, public sector organizations and large enterprises. It used OnApp software to build a range of cloud hosting and CDN packages, with different pricing, performance and managed service options for its diverse customer base.
In a video released today by OnApp, Exabytes’ founder and CEO, Chan Kee Siak, explains why the company built its cloud business with OnApp. “OnApp is the only cloud software we saw that is tailor-made for the hosting industry,” he says. “It fits the hosting business model very well.”
“Almost everything is 100 per cent automated with OnApp,” he comments. “Services are set up almost instantly with the automation provided by OnApp at the back end. That really improves our bottom line. More importantly, to our customers the experience is seamless.”
Chan Kee Siak also comments on OnApp’s federated CDN platform, and how it enables service providers like Exabytes to offer global CDN services without investing in new infrastructure around the world.
“Prior to OnApp only huge companies were able to offer CDN services, because you need 50 or more locations around the globe… huge investment is needed,” Chan says. “However, by tapping into the resources available in OnApp’s CDN federation, you can still offer 50 plus locations and compete with other CDN providers.”
OnApp software powers cloud, CDN and storage services for companies all over the world. OnApp products include OnApp Cloud, the leading cloud platform for hosts and service providers; OnApp CDN, a unique federated CDN platform for service providers; and OnApp Storage, a low-cost, high performance distributed SAN for cloud environments.
OnApp launched in July 2010, has more than 110 staff across the EU, U.S. and Asia-Pacific, and can be found online at www.onapp.com.
