(The Hosting News) – Facebook is set to launch a platform that is expected to rival Groupon and LivingSocial, the popular websites that provide discounts to consumers on various merchandisers.
Such e-commerce platforms let small businesses grow while innovating alongside such entities as Groupon, LivingSocial and now, Facebook.
Right now, Facebook is in the early process. The massive social-networking site will launch the deals in limited markets including Dallas, Austin, San Diego, and San Francisco. Facebook is looking to launch the deals from a social aspect, giving discounts on things that allow its users to socialize with friends.
Emily White, director of local at Facebook stated, “We’re building a product that is social from the group up…All of these deals are things you want to do with friends, so no teeth whitening, but yes to river rafting”.
The new feature in the market provides users with the ability to “like” certain deals and allows them to be forwarded to friends. Such involved companies include OpenTable and Viagogo.
