(The Hosting News) – Facebook email notifications were accidently reset by the popular social networking website on Tuesday. The error affected a lot of Facebook users who had manually opted out of receiving particular notifications.
In a statement released shortly after the incident, Facebook said, “Some people are suddenly receiving email notifications for settings they had turned off, and the checkboxes are now checked. We are currently working on a solution to this problem”.
Upon the creation of a new Facebook page, most email notifications are turned on by default. Once a user choses to edit their personal settings, they can opt out of receiving the notifications. Such notifications may include event invitations, friend requests, photo tags, and wall posts. There are a total of 73 notifications users are able to receive through their emails.
Facebook had resolved the issue by Thursday and apologized for any inconvenience that may have affected any users.
