(The Hosting News) – Social giant Facebook on Thursday was expected to roll out a fresh new design for its News Feed – the primary screen users receive when logging in that displays such things as friend status updates, photo shares and more.
The refresh follows the company’s launch of more precise search functionality called Graph Search.
According to a report from Mashable.com, multiple news feeds could be in the mix. Other additions, meanwhile, could include larger images.
Facebook, however, has refused to comment ahead of a highly anticipated press event. But it could be the platform’s first major overhaul since its launch in 2006.
Also in the mix could be more functionality with photo sharing app Instagram – something Facebook purchased just last year for the tune of $1 billion dollars.
The revamp could have a lot to do with how the social network is approaching advertisers. “Advertisers want really rich things like big pictures or videos, and we haven’t provided those things historically,” stated CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a January Wall Street analysts call, the New York Times noted.
The company last month agreed to purchase Microsoft’s Atlas platform – an advertiser suite. Financial details were not disclosed at the time.
