(The Hosting News) – The week before Thanksgiving marked the start of the holiday season for FatCow’s MooCrew, when the web hosting provider fused fun and philanthropy with a company thrown casino night. Members of the Moo Crew nominated a handful of charities and each attendee was given three hours and $2,000 of funny money to gamble. At the end of the night the four attendees who won the most mooooolah were given the opportunity to make a donation to one of the nominated causes.
“The night was full of a lot of laughter and playful competiveness,” explains Paul Bukhovko, FatCow’s Marketing Manager. “It was a great opportunity for co-workers to establish a sense of camaraderie, while simultaneously supporting some great charities.”
When all was said and done, FatCow donated a total of $10,000 to a variety of worthy causes; based on the winners’ selections the cause that raised the most money was Community VOICES (communityvoices.net), an organization whose mission it is to assist victims of childhood crimes, and prevent future crimes through advocacy, education and awareness.
And the philanthropy didn’t end with casino night. For the past several years it has become FatCow’s holiday tradition to participate in two other charities: Toys for Tots and Coats for Kids. “Toys for Tots is such a reputable charity run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves,” says Bukhovko. “We have partaken in their donation drive for years, not only because we feel strongly about the charity’s mission, but also because we admire the organization that runs it.”
While Toys for Tots benefits kids nationally, FatCow recognizes poverty is also local; for this reason, the web hosting provider has been a long participant in the Coats for Kids drive, a charity based out of Eastern Massachusetts. “New England winters are brutal, and getting by without a jacket is inconceivable for most of us,” says Bukhovko. “We feel strongly about participating in Coats for Kids because we know our donations will benefit local children. Helping those in need has been ingrained into the FatCow culture since we were founded in 1998, and 13 years later we are just as dedicated to this responsibility, especially during our celebration of the holiday season.”
