(The Hosting News) – FireHost, a fully-managed Web hosting company, continues to lead the secure cloud hosting movement. The company announced today that it has joined the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) as a corporate member. FireHost joins other members who have made it their mission to create a trusted, secure cloud ecosystem in which to conduct business. As a corporate member, FireHost will work with the CSA to evolve security measures for cloud environments, both public and private.
FireHost protects high-target, mission critical websites and applications in 23 different countries. The company recently announced the first ever, public cloud hosting that is also PCI 2.0 compliant.
The Cloud Security Alliance is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing, and to provide education on the uses of Cloud Computing to help secure all other forms of computing. The CSA is led by a broad coalition of industry practitioners, corporations, associations and other key stakeholders.
“FireHost’s deep experience in virtualized and secure hosting is a welcome expertise for The Cloud Security Alliance,” said Jim Reavis, executive director of the Cloud Security Alliance. “We’re confident FireHost will be an asset in helping the CSA continue to innovate in developing best practices for securing providers in the cloud.”
FireHost will immediately begin contributing to some new key initiatives within the CSA. For instance, the Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) Stack is one of the CSAs newer toolkits for enterprises, cloud providers, security solution providers, IT auditors and other key stakeholders. FireHost will assist the CSA in developing best practices, standards and critical compliance requirements for both private and public clouds. FireHost will also be sponsoring the Cloud Security Alliance Congress November 16-17 in Orlando FL.
“It’s important to us that FireHost is aligned with organizations that share our goals and standards for protecting information online,” said Chris Drake, founder and CEO of FireHost. “The Cloud Security Alliance has done an exceptional job of pulling the industry together around this mission, and developing best practices from which every cloud provider can learn.”
