(The Hosting News) – IT solutions provider NetApp was in need of a data center built specifically for the company’s services. Digital Realty Trust, an experienced data center solutions provider appeared to be the perfect fit to help NetApp.
On Monday, Digital Realty announced that the two companies had agreed to a partnership where the data center solutions provider would construct NetApp’s new data center in Hillsboro, Oregon.
The plan falls under Digital Realty Trust’s “Built-to-Suit” data centers. NetApp offers tech solutions including ones pertaining to cloud, virtualization, Microsoft SQL, Sharepoint, and more.
Commenting on the matter in a press release, NetApp VP of Workplace Resources Thom Bryant stated, “Our objective for this new facility was to obtain the most efficient and cost-effective data center possible, in the shortest time feasible.”
Bryant went on to stress NetApp’s “longstanding relationship” with the state where Digital Realty Trust will be constructing the data center.
Meanwhile, Digital Realty Senior VP of Sales Brent Behrman stated, “Our Build-to-Suit data center solution meets the specialized technical requirements of customers such as NetApp, while providing the customer with all the control of a do-it-yourself facility, and without the risks associated with a large-scale, capital-intensive data center construction project.”
The facility itself will be constructed on 5.1 acres of land acquired during the agreement. It will also encompass 55 thousand square feet. A factor that played into the site’s construction was the state’s “mild climate.”
Oregon also happens to be the home of a data center belonging to internet giant Facebook. Earlier this year, the social networking site launched its facility in the Prineville, Oregon.
