(The Hosting News) – During the Google I/O conference on Tuesday, Google spoke alongside Ford about how vehicles could take use of Google’s Prediction API to improve driver efficiency standards.
Ford has been experimenting with Predictive Analytics and could use the cloud technology to apply them in their electric or hybrid vehicles to achieve this.
One of the main focuses is allowing a vehicle to optimize performance based on a driver’s previously used route.
In a press release from Ford, the company stated, “The Google API can convert information such as historical driving data – where a driver has traveled and at what time of day for example – into useful real-time predictions, such as where a driver is headed at the time of departure”.
Cloud technology is already used by Ford, but not in this way. The automotive company currently offers such services in its SNYC in-vehicle information system. The current services also primarily focus on entertainment, navigation, and traffic updates.
