(The Hosting News) – On Monday, web hosting provider SoftLayer revealed the latest high profile addition to its leadership team. For the position of Chief Financial Officer, the company has hired former CBS Radio CFO Walter Z. Berger.
Berger most recently held the same title of chief financial officer for mobile communications company Leap Wireless. In a press release, SoftLayer emphasized that Berger “brings more than 30 years of experience” to the company.
Regarding the matter, SoftLayer CEO Lance Crosby said the move “amplifies and extends the deep base of experience and expertise” for SoftLayer’s “executive management team.”
“His proven track record and leadership will be invaluable as we embark on our next phase of growth. We’re delighted to have such a high caliber executive join our team,” Crosby also commented.
Other companies Berger has worked for have included Emmis Communications, LG&E Energy and Arthur Andersen. Apart from all his job experience, Berger’s educational qualifications include graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration.
Berger replaces SoftLayer CFO Mike Jones who had been with the company since 2005. Berger will officially begin his new role next month.
Announcing the company’s new CFO follows SoftLayer’s introduction of its new Flex Images service last Thursday. The platform gives users of the hosting company the ability to apply clouds via snapshots across other systems including virtual and physical servers.
As a company, SoftLayer offers a variety of dedicated servers, cloud platforms and managed services. In December, the web host revealed that it had accumulated revenues amounting for $85 million during the third quarter of last year.
