(The Hosting News) – Authorities are continuing their pursuit of Anonymous and Lulzsec. Most recently, in the UK, it was reported that Scotland Yard had recently taken into custody a total of four men suspected of involvement with the groups.
More specifically, it is believed that one or some of the suspects may be behind an attack on HB Gary Federal LLC (a U.S.-based security company) by operating under a hacking pseudonym known as “Kayla.”
2011 has seen plenty of high-profile security breaches. In the past year, attacks by hacking group Anonymous have included breaches of NATO, U.S. military contractor Booz Allen Hamilton, and agricultural company Mansanto. Meanwhile, hacking group LulzSec has participated in high-profile breaches of sites belonging to the U.S. Senate, PBS, the CIA, and more.
Worldwide, authorities have been busy trying to fight back. In July, U.S. officials in the United States arrested sixteen people suspected of hacking PayPal.
Despite the efforts to fight against hacking groups, breaches continue. Most recently, it was reported that Anonymous had attacked a law enforcement site belonging to the Texas Police Chiefs Association.
The hacking groups participate in a movement known as “antiSec,” mostly basing their targets on political motives. Upon breaching targets, the groups usually leak information contained on the sites’ servers.
