(The Hosting News) – Hivelocity is pleased to announce plans to expand its Tampa data center and headquarters by an additional 7000 square feet. Build out of Phase 2 will begin in September with expected completion in the 1st quarter of 2013.
Phase 2 is on premise of the Tampa headquarters and is adjoined to the existing facility. Phase 2 will consist of both office space as well as a 2nd raised floor data center. The new data center space will accommodate the addition of roughly 4000 new servers as well as caged colocation space. Anticipating the need for additional capacity 2 years ago, Hivelocity had surplus infrastructure and assets installed in 2010 to support this acquisition.
In addition to the new data center Hivelocity will use this space to construct a new NOC, additional lab space for collocated customers and a customer lounge. “A good portion of our phase 2 data center space will be purposed for colocation clientele. We have a blank canvass right now so this is a great opportunity to make this space a place our collocated customers can hang out, take a load off and really be comfortable and productive during the days they have to work on-site for extended periods of time. Collocated customers will have cages for their gear, lab space for their work and a lounge when they need a break, “ says General Manager Steve Eschweiler.
