WebHost Manager is a complete web-based system administration tool for cPanel servers that makes your server incredibly easy to manage and maintain. Among the many features that can help you simplify your server administration are its software management tools.
To access the software management tools in WHM, navigate to Home >> Software. There you will find several tools, including Apache update, RPM installation, module installers and system update. If you want to install software to run on your Linux installation, click “Install an RPM “. You should now see a list of available packages in the “Select packages to install” list. Choose the one you want to install and then click “Install”.
To update software on your server, return to “Software” and click “Update Server Software”. This is only necessary if automatic updates are disabled on your server. Simply click “Proceed” to run the updates.
While this web interface is usually enough for package installation and updates, it does not replace all of the functionality you get from a tool like YUM when using it from the command line. If you ever need to perform more advanced functions, you may need to login to the console or via SSH if you are accessing it remotely.
