(The Hosting News) – Opsource has been acquired by Dimension Data, the company announced in a press release on Thursday.
With the transaction, Dimension Data is looking to expand its offerings with cloud capabilities. The company provides IT communication services for its clients.
OpenSource is based in Santa Clara, CA and specializes in cloud management.
In a statement concerning the matter, Dimension Data CEO Brett Dawson said, “Market readiness for cloud services is being enabled by technology maturation, along with clients’ needs for more flexible services-centric, IT sourcing options. Our decision to accelerate our focus on cloud services aligns to our long-standing strategy to become a services-led business.”
In addition to the acquirement, Dimension Data says that a “centralised Cloud Solutions Business Unit” has been created.
Lately a lot more businesses have sought to get involved in the realm of cloud computing. Despite the deal, it remains unclear how much it was worth.
