(The Hosting News) – Jelastic Inc., the company behind the next-generation Java hosting platform Jelastic, today announced that it has been incorporated in the U.S. and has established operations in Palo Alto, Calif. Jelastic is a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offering that runs any Java application in the cloud without code changes.

With Jelastic, Java applications can be uploaded in minutes without changes to code or programming language and with no need to write for specific APIs (application programming interfaces). Application developers can choose which stack components they want and need including a growing number of popular application servers (Tomcat, GlassFish, Jetty), SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB), and their application will run and scale easily on the Jelastic platform.
The Jelastic platform is also different from earlier Java PaaS offerings in that it will be available to Java developers through a global network of hosting service providers – which already includes ServInt in the U.S. and Host Europe in Europe.
In test since mid-year, Jelastic has more than 2,000 registered developers and applications deployed. Java is the programming language of choice used by nine million Java developers worldwide.
