(The Hosting News) – As of now, it seems that the end of LimeWire is nearing fast.
Today, US District Judge Kimba Wood issued an injunction against the operating company of the file-sharing software giant, ordering them to disable “the searching, downloading, uploading, file trading…and/or all functionality” of the software.
Wood had also previously granted summary judgement for the music industry last May, when it filed a claim against LimeWire and its parent company for copyright infringement, engaging in unfair competition, and inducing copyright infringement.
According to cnet, LimeWire’s spokesperson recently released a statement saying, “While this is not our ideal path, we hope to work with the music industry in moving forward. We look forward to embracing necessary changes and collaborating with the entire music industry in the future.”
LimeWire also announced that, as of now it will continue to exist but no longer operate as a file-sharing service. However, no future plans were discussed.
