(The Hosting News) – MakerBot has announced that its largest 3D printer is now available for pre-order, along with the start of shipping of its fifth generation MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D printer.
Announced Tuesday via press release, the MakerBot Replicator Z18 3D, described as “one of the most disruptive products of the year”, is expected to ship this spring.
Available with the Z18 is the MakerBot Cart and Filament Case, both of which will be shipping out in the spring also.
“We believe the MakerBot Replicator Z18 is a game-changer in the world of 3D printers. We consider its massive build volume and its ability to bring professional-quality 3D printing to the user comparable to industrial 3D printers that are tens of thousands of dollars more,” said MakerBot CEO, Bre Pettis. “We view it as the 3D printer for large industrial models, engine prototypes, movie special effect models and the next generation spacecraft. We are using it in our own factory to make prototypes, jigs and fixtures.”
The Replicator Z18 is priced at $6,499, while the Cart is $1,250 and the Filament Case is $750.
Additionally, the MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D printer has now began to ship out to customers based on who purchased the model first.
