(The Hosting News) – Today, Microsoft announced the global availability of its re-branded cloud service, OneDrive, followed by some incentives for customers.
New features have been added for customers who use the cloud service, such as the ability to easily share and view videos and automatic camera backup for Android, says OneDrive’s blog.
As a way to bring in new customers, Microsoft is giving up to 5 GB of additional storage for users whose friends accept an invitation to OneDrive, that’s up to 10 friends in 500 MB increments.
Additionally, 3 GB will be given to those who use the camera backup feature, as well as 100 GB of free storage for a year for the first 100,000 people.
OneDrive is available on every major device and platform, so users will not have to worry about saving files to the cloud.
“We’ve built OneDrive into the latest versions of Windows, Windows Phone, Office, and Xbox. You can even make OneDrive your default storage option, so you never have to worry about whether you are saving files to the cloud: They are just there. If you happen to carry an iPhone or Android phone, or use an iPad, Android tablet, Windows device, or a Mac—OneDrive is available there, too.”
For existing SkyDrive users, files have automatically been transferred to the OneDrive storage which can be seen once logged into the new service.
