(The Hosting News) – It was recently confirmed that Microsoft’s Business Productivity Online Standard Suite(BPOS) received FISMA approval by the U.S. government. FISMA gives the government’s official nod that the program is secure to use by various federal agencies.
The move also signifies the large conversion by the government towards cloud-based computing.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is expected to convert around 120,000 employees to using the program. The approval also gives other government agencies the option of using the suite.
The BPOS suite consists of such Microsoft programs including SharePoint and Exchange. The software giant is also expected to seek FISMA approval for the upcoming release of Office 365.
Microsoft most recently made headlines when it criticized Google for advertising some of its government-based apps as FISMA-approved.
