(The Hosting News) – Has Microsoft been successful with upping its coolness? That appears to be the case, at least in the opinions of those aged 18 to 29.
According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll made available Thursday, a little under half of respondents in the age group agreed that, compared to just two years ago, the company has indeed become cooler.
The survey, meanwhile, also questioned respondents on other tech entities including Facebook (42% said it was cooler now) and Twitter (47% said it was cooler).
A Reuters report attributed Microsoft’s solid showing to recent product releases. “Part of Microsoft’s lift appears to stem from a well-coordinated marketing blitz around its all-new Surface tablets, which have revamped the familiar Windows interace with a tile-based, mobile app-friendly look and feel. Its Xbox gaming console and “Kinect” accessory, which can respond to gestures and voice commands, has in the past year also burnished its image around younger consumers,” stated the Reuters news story.
Competitor Apple is commonly attributed by consumers as being hipper than Microsoft.
To get its results, Reuters/Ipsos polled almost five thousand people just earlier this month. The companies plan to administer the poll again in the coming future.
