110 Media Group, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: OTEN) Today announced it engaged WalkerTek Internet
Services, Inc. to design and implement fundamental infrastructure improvements
for 110 Media’s recently acquired Web1000 free hosting service. The initial
phase of the project will improve the performance and uptime for the more than
450,000 free hosting customers currently using the system. The system changes
will also provide a scalable platform to accommodate anticipated increases in
network traffic. WalkerTek is a highly regarded full service Internet and
multimedia development company, specializing in database integration and Web
site development, whose clients include, Maxell, LG, Lifestyles and Fujinon.
Web1000.com, prior to its acquisition by 110 Media, became a leading free
Web host and operated successfully on older hardware with mediocre bandwidth
allotments for several years. “These improvements significantly improve
service for existing customers and will help 110 Media launch the recently
announced Web1000traffic.com, which is a significant milestone in 110 Media’s
development. Once the overhaul is complete, newer hardware and larger
bandwidth pipelines will allow the customer to experience a much higher level
of service and consistent uptime” said Ray Barton, 110 Media Group’s Chief
Executive Officer, who goes on to say, “The current infrastructure limits not
only the technical operations, but the potential financial returns to
customers and the company. The new platform will eliminate these roadblocks
and we look forward to capitalizing on potential of free hosting and related
businesses.”
The overhaul will take place in several phases including the moving of the
original equipment to Walkertek’s high bandwidth facility in New Jersey, the
migration of the hosted sites to newer, high performance hardware, and
reprogramming of the platform on which the web1000.com system operates.
Although the system upgrade has been planned to avoid any noticeable downtime,
current customers may see short periods of service interruptions typical with
an upgrade of this scope. 110 Media apologizes in advance for any such
outages and anticipates that the performance improvements will be well worth
any outage experienced.
Last week 110 Media announced the launch of web1000traffic.com, to
monetize the tremendous amount of traffic that web1000 generates already. It
is expected that the infrastructure improvements will facilitate an increase
in that traffic allowing the company to set higher revenue goals in near
future.
