Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – (The Hosting News) – August 24, 2006 – Webhosting company, and subsidiary of United Internet, 1 and 1 Internet, is opening a new, fully-automated data center in Kansas City suburb, Lenexa. The company has selected a 55,000 square feet facility, from 10 sites, and will supply space for 40,000 servers. Scheduled to open in early 2007, the data center will employ 15 people.
1 and 1 specializes in web sites and domains for SMEs and consumers, and, according to the company, is the recognized leader of web hosting products in Europe. In late 2003, 1 and 1 began serving U.S. customers. Currently, 1 and 1’s web site customers are being hosted in two rented data centers in New York and New Jersey. The new facility in Kansas City will handle all new customers from within the United States and Canada.
