Toronto, Canada – (The Hosting News) – November 14, 2006 – Outsourced data centre infrastructure firm, Q9 Networks Inc., has been selected by environmental and engineering consulting firm, Matrix Solutions Inc., to service its data centre requirements, in a comprehensive infrastructure deal.
Providing services such as environmental impact assessments, site assessment and reclamation, monitoring and remediation of contaminated groundwater and soils and river engineering, Matrix operates from six offices in Alberta and British Columbia. It has experienced rapid growth, doubling its headcount to approximately 180 employees over the last two years. With more than 500 clients and 2,000 projects currently underway, its data storage requirements have also increased exponentially.
When Matrix recently went from a single server with 500 gigabytes of storage to a blade server array with three terabytes of storage, the company determined that its existing data centre infrastructure was not capable of supporting the additional load and turned to Q9 for a solution.
Mike Morley, Senior Consultant, Information Engineering Team at Matrix Solutions Inc. remarked, ”The building that houses our head office and data centre was not able to support the increased power and cooling demands of our blade array. We needed to move to a facility that not only had robust power and cooling infrastructure but also a high level of security and reliability. Furthermore, a large number of our employees are consultants working at remote sites or from home, adding to the complexity and risk of downtime. We estimated that every hour of downtime would extract a large penalty in lost fees, not to mention the disruption and lost time to our clients. By moving to Q9, we ensure our infrastructure always has an adequate and reliable amount of power and cooling, our clients’ data is secure and we can provide the same level of access to our remote employees as we can to those in our corporate head office.”
Q9 endeavors to deliver its services through an extensive suite of customer care products, including a web-based portal, designed to provide complete visibility into customer equipment and Q9 services. All Q9 and customer systems are monitored from a Q9 Control Centre 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Experts are also available to customers on an around-the-clock basis to resolve issues and provide advice.
Osama Arafat, CEO of Q9 Networks added, ”As a dynamic and rapidly growing company, Matrix understands the substantial benefits of outsourcing to a trusted provider with an extensive track record. Q9 provides solid reliability and guaranteed power and cooling resources, allowing Matrix to focus on managing the growth of its business.”
