Baltimore, Maryland – (The Hosting News) – July 14, 2006 – Facilities-based Internet service provider (ISP) with a new Tier-1 data center in downtown Baltimore, DataPoint, is offering a combination of carrier-class data center services and high-speed dedicated ethernet connectivity.
According to the company, it is filling a key marketplace void in the region, given that the need for a strong local, independent ISP and high-end Baltimore data center was evident, as DataPoint signed over 100 new business clients since its brand transition from ToadNet in late 2005. The firm now has well over 1,000 regional business clients among its total customer base, on the brink of a 75 percent growth rate in its commercial customer base in 2006.
e.magination, a nationally recognized visual design firm specializing in user-centric e-business solutions located in Baltimore, signed on with DataPoint in December 2005 as an Internet access customer. In 2006, e.magination expanded its partnership with DataPoint by purchasing additional Internet connectivity, as well as utilizing DataPoint’s new data center facility and Dedicated Ethernet Technology.
Charles Serrini, Director of Quality Assurance at e.magination commented, ”I host several hundred web sites at e.magination, so it is critical for me to receive quality service and rapid response rates. DataPoint always delivers. We are so confident in DataPoint’s solutions that we are routing 100% of our traffic through their company.” Advertising.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of AOL LLC and operator of the world’s largest online advertising network, also signed on with DataPoint as a new Dedicated Ethernet client in 2006.
Carter Smith, General Manager at DataPoint added, ”The enthusiasm from the business community for our value proposition has been very encouraging. We are excited to expand our Ethernet network footprint throughout the region, while delivering top-notch managed services out of our data center to businesses of all sizes.”
In January 2006, Arbitron, an international media and marketing research firm serving radio broadcasters, cable companies, advertisers, advertising agencies and outdoor advertising companies in the United States, Mexico and Europe, became a data center customer with DataPoint. Additional new DataPoint clients within the Baltimore region include: Whitman, Requardt and Associates, LLP; Miles and Stockbridge; Phillips Foods, Inc.; Advance Radiology; and Colliers Pinkard.
DataPoint provides traditional connectivity services, Metro Ethernet connectivity, data center storage, point-to-point connectivity, and back-up solutions and other managed services. In January 2006, DataPoint announced its new Dedicated Ethernet technology providing high-speed, high-bandwidth data access at a more cost-effective rate than traditional T1 technology. With DataPoint’s Dedicated Ethernet, critical data and IP connections are bundled into one efficient and reliable service solution, its goal to reduce monthly expenses by up to seventy-five percent.
