EV1Servers, a dedicated hosting provider, announced recently its deployment of TippingPoint’s UnityOne Intrusion Prevention System, which provides network protection at gigabit speeds through packet inspection.
According to EV1Servers, UnityOne features TippingPoint’s Threat Suppression Engine, a ASIC-based hardware platform that utilizes a 20 Gbps backplane and high-performance network processors to perform packet flow inspection at Layers 2-7. The system performs thousands of checks on each packet flow simultaneously, while producing typical latency rates of less than 100 microseconds. In addition, its Digital Vaccine Service continuously delivers new filters for the latest vulnerabilities, exploits, viruses and rogue applications.
“Our network is home to over one million websites,” says Randy Williams, EV1Servers’ CTO. “The security of our network affects each of these users’ ability to do business online. TippingPoint’s industry-leading technology represents a valuable investment that will help us fulfill our responsibility of providing the most reliable web hosting environment possible.”
EV1Servers expects implementation of UnityOne to be completed no later than December 31, 2004. “Thanks to our customers’ support, we’ve been able to achieve our sixth year of substantial growth and profitability,” says Robert Marsh, EV1Servers Head Surfer and CEO. “We wanted to express our appreciation by reinvesting in our infrastructure. What better way to start the new year than by making our industry-leading network even more secure?”
