Geek Certified, an independent organization promoting honesty, integrity, and trust in the hosting industry, announced this week that it has released the first ever “Host’s Pledge,†and the “Client’s Pledge.â€ÂÂ
The pledges, located at the site (http://www.geekcertified.com),
are designed to be a means by which hosting clients and providers can communicate
their willingness to be both respectful and fair on the internet.
â€ÂÂWe want to create a gateway for web hosts to let their clients know
that they are conscious about their business practices,†said Danny Garon,
founder of the site. “In addition, we want to allow hosts to let their
clients know that they require respectful and fair treatment.â€ÂÂ
Hosts who wish to participate in the host’s pledge may simply place a
special logo on their site, linked to the pledge page (http://www.geekcertified.com/hosts_pledge.php)
at Geek Certified
“Hosting providers should feel proud to participate in this program because
they are paving the way for the future of web hosting, built on honesty and
trust,†said Garon.
Companies may also wish to ask their clients to participate in the pledge,
by asking clients to check a box upon signup next to the “client’s
pledge†logo, and linking it to the client’s pledge page (http://www.geekcertified.com/client_pledge.php).
“Hosts should know that a successful business relationship is a two way
street, between a client and their hosting provider,†said Garon. “By
asking clients to be respectful and understanding, hosts can enjoy a positive,
professional relationship with the people they host.â€ÂÂ
Hosts do not need to be Geek Certified to participate in the pledge program,
but it is encouraged.
“Anybody can do this, you don’t have to be certified. Obviously
certification is another step that hosts are encouraged to take, but it’s
not required by us,†said Garon.
