Germantown, Maryland – (The Hosting News) – April 10, 2006 – Broadband satellite network solutions and services firm, Hughes Network Systems, has launched its HughesNet High Availability Networks.
According to the company, the first new offering under HughesNet Managed Network Services is designed to enhance enterprises with higher levels of availability, featuring a enterprise-wide broadband network that frees IT executives to focus on the provision of applications to support internal core business processes. HughesNet High Availability Networks is a network solution intended to deliver both terrestrial and satellite connectivity at each network location at prices below a typical frame relay network.
In addition, the integrated approach to high availability networks is fully managed by Hughes and yields an availability of better than four 9’s, backed by service level agreements (SLAs). Traditional high availability offerings that provide a single primary network with a secondary network overlay is used for back-up, while HughesNet High Availability Networks purport to deliver co-primary connectivity with two completely diverse paths-one terrestrial and one satellite-at each network location.
During a service disruption on either path, application traffic is automatically re-routed to ensure customers and employees are not affected. Mike Cook, Senior Vice President of Hughes explained, ”HughesNet High Availability Networks reduces the cost of a reliable, enterprise-wide broadband network. It is designed to help customers achieve maximum up-time at an affordable price, while at the same time providing high aggregate capacity allowing growth for the future applications necessary for the development of the business. This new offering allows our customers to focus on the development of their business while we look after their network.”
